I did say that the sexing was only for the C Rosea. And I fully agree that one should rather check the exivium after a molt. But did you explain to Panda what to look for?

I tried to help the Panda with what he could see. And even tho its not the best way to check it would give him a possible answer on the C Rosea.

Not every one has microscopes and not every one has the experience to just glance at a molt and know what sex the T is.

Im sure all of us sometimes forget that we where new to the hobby 2. and Im sure Cerat you once told me experience cant be Taught.

My hassle with your statement was that you say G.rosea will mature at 8cm, so to say that if his rosea has no hooks at 8cm it is a female, is COMPLETELY incorrect.

Experience can't be taught, that is very true, it is just very dangerous to give information to newbies if you don't know the answer yourself. Rather wait for someone with proper info to chime in and give some info.
I have recently seen quite a few newer folk giving info that is completely untrue to questions posed.
It doesn't affect people who know better, but could be detrimental to a newbie who takes your post as law.
Who would be to blame if panda were to sell his G.rosea as a female and it matured next moult?

+1 Cerat

I agree Onyx that some info can be a bit overwhelming at first, It still happens to me and i have been keeping T's for many a year now ;)

I still believe that people should be given the correct information from the start.

This removes any chances of confusion and heart ache at the end of the day.

I believe all the people on the forum are intelligent enough to figure out the ramblings of the "experts"

if not you have the forum to your aid and you can ask these "experts" to further explain.

When I got my first tarantula, I did a bit of research on the internet, that was way before I joined this awesome forum ;) , and found a thread on an overseas forum explaining the whole process of using a old exuvium to sex a tarantula, I used this from that day on up to today and I have not to this date wrongfully sexed a tarantula :) The thread I'm talking about was started on the overseas forum by Cosser. When I joined this forum I learned that he is on this forum as well as The Magnificent Duke and he shared the exact same info on this site as well. By the way thanks Duke B) I believe this thread has been brought up again recently.

I would rather promote new members to the hobby to follow the same route and learn to do things the right way from the start.

Rather than taking a shot in the dark.

Thats enough rambling for now

+1 Cerat, +1 Creator.

I think, the main problem we have in our hobby, is that there is no standardized method when it comes to keeping these wonderfull creatures.

I personally think there should be a standard to use/go about from doing your homework for your first tarantula, purchasing it, keeping it, researching the next, sticking to the basics etc.

So the main thing is, perhaps the experts should get together and provide said guidance, and present it in the form of a sticky to the members, or easier, refer to the TKG...

As that is probably the main starting point most of us took when we ventured into this hobby.

@ The Animal. Thank you, I would love a curly sling. I have had almost all my spiders from slings. some would say im srange but I prefer raising them myself. I know their history and habits etc. I just prefer it. Am i wrong in doing it this way?
