Hi there got tagged by my 13 cm P.ornata at 11:50 .I was cleaning his cage (last night was feeding time)I was removing all the leftovers he got a scare ran up my t-shirt on my back where i was standing still hoping he wouldn't bite me well he did i suddenly felt how both his fangs sunked in my back it burned like hell with a stinging sensation

I took my T-shirt off put him back in his encloser.I called cascade he told me to ran warm water over the bite site the swelling went down abit not much but it helped

At 12:15 it felt as if someone is sitting on my chest my whole arm became stiff i also became nausea a few minutes went by i got a huge headache and turned very sleepy

One hour after the bite still felt sleepy headache was still there the bite site was no longer swollen but still sore the burning was almost gone

At around 14:00 every thing was back to normal

First pic was taken 5 min after the bite site second one approx 15 min after the bite

I got the phone call shortly after Stippie had been bitten, my first question to him was, "is he having any problems breathing", he said no, so, I advised stippie to do the hot water and just keep an eye on himself and then to go to the doctor just encase.

Which He did go and got 2 injection, he can't remember what is was, but he was given pain pills and antibiotics.

He kept in contact with me through out the day, what I find interesting, all the symptoms he described happened to allot of the other bite reports that had been bitten by P. ornata
Nausea, headaches, feeling sleepy, but some other say they felt out of even drunk, stiffness. it is like the venom has a set course that it works through your body.

As far as I understand it (and it makes sense since nobody in recorded history seems to have died from a tarantula bite other than a couple of isolated infection cases), tarantula's venom is missing some peptide element that would cause an anaphylactic (only dangerous allergic reaction) reaction.

Pain and joint stiffness is however on the menu ;)
