I have a few MF's now, and I'm tempted to jump in with both feet. We are approaching winter though, and I was wondering if this is an issue, and if so, how much of an issue. I understand that it isn't too hard to simulate a season, but as a complete noob, would it be best for me to wait for the approach of spring?

Also, the female I have in mind is an 11cm B. auratum. She is one of my favourites. What potential risks are there for females that haven't quite reached their full growth? I read in another thread here, that you can breed females that have only reached about 50% growth. So 11cm for this species should be A ok right?

If you have MM's available now, I would go ahead and breed them.
Surprisingly I find it easier to get my spiders to drop in the winter with the help of a wall panel heater.
Easier to control temps than our natural summer with its ups and downs in temperatures.

So obviously in nature, like with our local baboons, mating happens in spring and sacks are produced and hatched during summer. But what about the species living on the equator? There it is basically summer all year round, right? Can maiting and egg production happen all year round in those areas? :blink:

In my experience when the female is mated for the first time, she some times molts out. "Almost to prep herself for being a mother" the second time she will be ready to be a mom.

Mating is a easy bump in the road. Research on the species and temps / humidity after mating is extremely helpful. Best of luck

i also found it better to breed in winter had 3 sacks in winter and summer i had 0 so i would have
