HI ppls

Ok well i bought a Curly hair from a guy at work thinking he was all fine. He did have a spot of hair missing on his abdomen, was told that the spider had always had it as if it was a "birth mark" . His old tank was rather smallish with no water dish present, soil was pretty dirty and he had a load of dead crickets present. At that time he seemed very sluggish, didnt move much.

So when i got him home i did put some water in for him which he almost immediately drank from. Next day i had gotten him a much bigger tank, provided him with a hiding spot, water dish, some new substrate. Left him for a bit to settle in, few days later i tried feeding him but he refused to eat and same for the next few weeks.

So now Ive noticed that he has lost most hair on his abdomen and im pretty worried, his back legs even seem to be getting thinner and still refuses to eat. Even if i do kill the cricket and hold it in front of him. I read online that dehydration could be the problem but he is not sitting still at all, in fact he is permanently climbing up the tanks sides trying to get out. I keep his tank covered most of the day so nothing gets to stress him but to no success. Ive provided another hiding spot now and added a bigger water dish which he seemed to have drank out again. He also seems much calmer now.

So if anyone has any idea what could be wrong please help!! I really dont want to loose him

The bold spot is from kicking hairs. Your T looks like is could be a MM. Witch would explain not eating and being very active. Maybe able to tell more from apick from above the T with it spread out. I am no expert. So let's see what the other member have got to say

Have not been handling him because i am scared stress could be a part of the problem. He has been laying web all over the floor of his tank. I honestly don't know if he actually a MM yet, the person i got him from never told me how long he had him. He has got the hooks on his front legs too, but he is rather small imo unless im completely wrong about thinking what size an adult curly hair male should be

The Curly is indeed a MM if it has hooks. And from the pick it also looks like a MM as Shaun said. You do know what is the next step for a mature male?
It seems the guy at work pulled a fast one on you. Hope you didn't pay too much for him?

You are going to struggle to get your mature male to eat at all ( that is just how they roll ).

Still offer him water though

A MM won't really eat all that much and will be all over the enclosure looking to get out and find a girl. That would also explain the bold patch, as he will lose a lot of hair trying to get out. The only bad thing about a MM is that he won't molt again, and if he does wil probably die in the molt. Males live for about 3 years. Perhaps the guy who sold him to you didn't know it was mature.
