Thanx Jake

This is good advice. I will do the following:

1) Put the hides in empty cages with the lid on, to check if the smell builds up.
2) If 1) is successful I will start with some misting operations.

If both 1) and 2) are successful, I should have nothing to worry about.

So I put the hides in an empty cage with the lid on and there was odor build up overnight. I think that one of the components within the glue might be reacting with the PVC but I have no proof of this as of yet. The odor has a smell similar to formaldehyde. So my conclusion is to decorate new hides by using aquarium glue. If find this very puzzling

The glue does not contain solvents, it might have a hardener inside as it dries faster than normal.
The only glue I now that melts PVC is, PVC glue or model building glue.

I have never tried the PVC idea, so this is as new to me as you and I'm just going on experience and what I know from using wood glue.

Did you put the hides in the sun?

Hi Jake. I apologise for taking so long to reply.

I put the hides in the sun for 2 days and found that the odor dissipated completely. In order to verify that no odor build up could occur, i put the hides in an closed, empty enclosure again and left it over night. The next morning i found a very very slight odor build up. I still have to mist the hides to determine any changes and/or observations that might occur.

Thank you for your advice thus far.

That sounds like it is getting better.

I would say leaving outside in the sun for a couple more days, maybe a week.
You can also put it into the oven on low heat and if you have a smart oven with a fan you can put the fan on, just watch it that you don't melt the PVC pipes or burn the peat :P :cheer:

I was at the hardware this morning but they did not have the water proof wood glue available, I want to give it a try myself and see what results I get from my side.

Well then as soon as I arrive home today I will get those hides out in the sun asap. but besides the odor issue, the hides look great I think. I will take some pictures tonight and post it tomorrow. Every time I finish another enclosure decoration or such I get exited more and more. Can't wait till I am ready to rehouse some of my T's
