Ants in my Turkistan roach colony

Yesterday I redid my new Turkistan roach colony housing to make more breading room and easier access as I have seen some babies walking around for the first time. I was ecstatic as it is my 1st small buggers since month and a few back so I know I was doing something right.

This afternoon when I opened the container I was shocked to see the whole thing covered in ants! I don't know exactly how to get the ants out of the box? I decided I will put some anti-ant dust around the containers on the floor and put some vasalene on the outside of the container to try and stop ants from coming in. But how do I get the ants out of the container that is already on the inside?

I would say, you need to take the roaches out and then get rid of the ants.
Pick the roaches out by hand.

It happened to me as well.

You must put all the roaches as well as the ant in a new container (don't put vaseline on this container). The ants will be disturbed and climb out of the container, while the roaches stay behind since the Turkish roaches can't climb out. Shake the container every now and again. Wipe the ants which are climbing up the sides of the container out with a tissue/ cloth. This is a longish proses but It will help.

Uncle C - so what happened since then? Did you finally get rid of the ants? If Yes, what did the trick?
How is your colony doing?

Ended up putting all the roaches in another container for time being. Then cleaned and washed the original container and replaced everything in there. Put the roaches back. While all this happened I put ant trap at the area and when the ants were gone moved the container back to its original spot.

So far no ants...

My colony is idling... more than I can say about my previous attempt...
