Hi all

I recently obtained an Avicularia Versicolor sling about 1 and a half cm in size. At the moment I am keeping it in a deli cup provided by the site I purchased it from. The problem I'm having is that my sling is webbing to the lid and I have to keep breaking the web to give water etc. I have recently obtained a small enclosure but more elongated more suitable for an arboreal species. I was thinking about using the new enclosure but upside down so that I won't have to worry about breaking the web and don't have to worry about the sling bolting out and not wanting to return which is another problem I'm having.

Can I please have some advice, do you suggest I do this, I'm thinking feeding is going to be difficult with an upside down Tupperware. Also should I put something in the enclosure for the T to climb up on. It's a small enclosure and would be able to fit much in there.. I was thinking a thin piece of cork sheet, if anyone has any ideas please put them forward. I'm assuming I can't just grab a stick from the garden and place it in there. I would have to glue the cork sheet or branch what type of glue should I use, can glue harm my T

Morning Ryan And welcome.

It is advisable to give the spider something to climb on a perch.
With regards to what glue to use, you can use marine silicone (must let it dry for a couple days) or glue from a glue gun you can even use waterproof wood glue.
You can take a stick from the garden as long as you have not sprayed pesticides any where on the trees or in the yard.
All you need to do is wash the stick with hot water and even can scrub it. and it will be fine.

I know the upside down enclosure works better than the normal kind we tend to use.

You can also try rub some vaseline to the lid to stop the sling from webbing on it. I think I have read this in the tarantula keepers handbook before but have not tested it.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have put the sling in an upside down enclosure with a stick and solar all has worked well. I toss a cricket in and the sling comes running down the wall of the enclosure grabs the cricket and brings it back up to it hammock made of web at the top of the enclosure. I think it's very happy, happy T happy me
