Hi All,

During the holiday I found the following specimen in the Malelane area in Mpumalanga close to the Kruger national park.
I'm not sure if it can be identified as it was dark and only had my phone to take a picture.

Hey ,

This seems to be the Brachionopus robustus adult male which is found in that area. Have a look at the link for the pictures.

Very small spider.

Hi Dimitri,

Thank you for the reply. They are very small yes. This specific one was around 3-4cm.

When I visit that area again, I'll spend some more time looking for some T's as i was told that there are a lot of BIG Pelinobius muticus in the area as well.

I've added it to the spidermap.

A lot of BIG Pelinobius muticus (King Baboon) ??

Who told you that? That species does not occur in South Africa so you definitely will not find them there. The only other species you can find is Harpactira gigas Augacephalus breyeri and other Brachionopus and Harpactirella species.

Hi Dimitri,

That's why I'll have to go and check out the species in that area. The owners of the farm are not very fond of Tarantula's and are not very clued up on what the species are and what they have on the farm.

So I'm sure I was misinformed as per your reply.

I'll definitely post all the species I find there without hesitation.

Thanks again.
