Hi there it looks alot like a rain spider (South Africa) huntsman in most other countries .Looks like a Delena cancerides native to Australia.

Hi all,

so I found another specimen in my house this morning, this time I captured it and let it go outside. I believe it is another BIG Rain spider. (estimated at 12cm DLS)

Get these in my garden and home regularly. They do get to be quite large and I have seen then rear up and expose fangs at the dogs.

Large one ran over my hand and arm unexpectedly while I was cleaning the gutters. Nearly did a nose dive

We also had a female with a nest on the balcony. We moved the whole bunch to the garden when they hatched

So with a big weekend of Rugby behind us and getting ready to go home from my (soon to be) parents-in-law on Sunday morning, we spot a suspicious character on the front door... Anybody know what this is:

Sorry for the bad quality pictures. It's the best I could do at that moment. We released it in the veld across the road from the house. The in-laws live on a plot in the Donkerhoek area, close to Silver Lakes.

My initial thought was that it could be Harpactira Hamiltoni or Tigrina, but that would just be a far out guess... I'll leave it up to the experts.
