Last night my first T molted at last . All went well and he seems to be recovering nicely. I've ordered the tarantula keeper's guide but it hasn't arrived yet, so bare with my noobness please

I've read somewhere that you should remove the skin as soon as possible. First of all, why is this? Will it rot or something?

And secondly, this little tarantula is a Curly Hair and thus is hidden away in his burrow, which he never seems to come out of anyway. So getting the skin would mean kind of destroying his burrow and I don't want that I've also heard that they're fragile after a molt for a while. Is it that urgent that I remove the skin from his tank

HI, no mate its not important to get the moult out of the enclosure,it wont make any odds if you leave it were it is,your sling will most likely remain under the substrate untill it gets a bit bigger,(this is so with most slings) for them to feel safe,after a couple more moults it will be out on show more often,Congratulations on a successful moult,

They usually kick the old skin out of the burrow after a day or 2.So there is no need to worry. Congratulations on the moult

No need to worry, you can leave the exuvium in the enclosure without any hassles, one of my T's even ate it's old exuvium, but most of the time my T's take it out and dump it in a far corner.

The only reason I would say you should remove it is because it might attract ants. IT just takes one ant to discover the molt and you can kiss your T goodbye. So if you have ants in the house then rather remove, rather safe than sorry.

I wouldn't worry about taking it out just because of ants though. If a stray ant were to find the spider itself it would also bring all its buddies and the chances are better of an ant finding a spider than the moult down its burrow.
The only reason that you could have for bothering the spider is to maybe use the moult to sex it.
