The World Spider Catalog, Version 12.5
by Dr. Norman Platnick. It lists every species known to science. After each species' name are the countries that species is reported from. Platnick's list is updated about every six months, so it's pretty current.
If you don't recognize a country, Google the country's name. As others have already stated, the New World is North, Central, and South America with adjoining or associated islands.
The Old World is everyplace else except Antarctica (which is in a class by itself and of no interest to the tarantula hobby).

No. Some people try to make rules of thumb to differentiate them, but then there are exceptions. Then exceptions to the exceptions. And, a third case that doesn't fit anywhere. Learn them by rote. It's easier that way! :lol:
