Hey guys,

So my other hobby is modding cars. I have been doing it since my first car that was a 1972 1600 twin port beetle.

At the moment I'm busy working on my Jetta VR6 that was damaged in an accident caused by a drunk guy skipping the Traffic light and taking me out.

I attached some pics of the accident and current state of things. Doing a complete motor rebuild, front end rebuild, turbo, brakes the works.

I enjoy working on my car as I learn things everyday and love working with my hands. Most guys at work said I should have become a mechanic lol. Just thought I would share. Please feel free to comment.

Nice! I want to spend more time doing this too. We are building 1954 Vauxhaul Velox, a peugeot 208 from way back and a merc 280SE. Will probably still be building them in the year 3000.

Get that sentra of yours a full free flow and branches from TNT in Jhb, strap on a 36DCD downdraught weber carb and let me know if you feel a difference... lol. I told you I had a 140 that could beat any stock 160 Sentra and most other 1600 cars - Do the same to your 160 and you will have a really cheeky little toy.

Cheers.

Ouch! Nice project car though, I once turbo'd my 2.0 Giullietta myself in my parent's backyard and was over the moon with the results, it used to do a 13sec 1/4 mile in the early 90's kungfu

You can take an Aphonopelma to crickets but you can't make it eat!

Very nice man.

Here are pictures of project cars.

Since you VW fan here is my 2nd golf, 1.8L CSX.; (I love 1800's)
Upgrades that had been done, free flow exhaust, design to give hectic bass, could here it a Km from the house, a bit loud to drive a long trip though.
Even worse, was visiting the girlfriend, leaven at 01:00 0r 02:00 in the morning was a bit of a trick not to wake up the rest of the sleeping house when you start the engine and drive out the yard.
Block had been gas flowed, ported and polished, had planed some other mod on the engine will it was going to be spray painted.
Cams were cut from first owner.
Installed a button clutch.
Also installed 6 pot brake callipers with ventilated, slotted and drilled disks, have to be able to stop before you can pull off.
Had kenitic fuel injection system with 2liter injectors ready for upgrade.

Lowered the car by 40mm. rolled the archers in the front as the tyres would scrap when you turn and then go over a bump.
The only thing having such a low car is everything becomes a hazard on the road, speed bumps was the most fun a person can have, even water became a problem. My friend lost my first bumper from hitting a pool of water on the road.
Installed jumbo front bumper, with single light grill.
Had crystal lights installed but the lighting from them was really bad so went back to old school VW lights in the front.

And then the car got stolen.
Here is a picture.

Then Got the red Opel Kadett from my Grandfather.
1.6L Cub

Only did 2 upgrades to the Opel, was a free flow exhaust, learnt from golf so just had the guy install a standard system, the car must make it own noise.

And then I had gotten a fibre glass bumper kit for the car, front bumper, back bumper, side skirts and a wing.
I had changed the design of all the additions so the Opel will look unique and not look like every other tom that has got and Opel and just stuck the bumpers onto the car.
I also fitted and cut all bumpers to fit perfectly onto the body.
Redesigned everything.

I had all the bumpers on the car, working on them, fine tuning and just testing if it is all going to stay attached to the car.
2 weeks before the car was scheduled to go in for spray painting, I had a accident with it, some guy had stopped in the yellow block with an X inside, in the lane that is made for turning cars from the shopping centre to slip into the traffic.
He's fault, but the law of the road is if you ride into someone from behind, it is your fault regardless if he slammed on breaks or reversed into me or if he was in the wrong place.

The guy did not clam from my insurance as he said he's insurance would cover it so I must not worry about it, but he's insurance company did not feel like that, they ended up suing me for the repair they did and my insurance company said they not going to cover me as I have only joined them.
The insurance company sued me for R4500.00, the repair only costed R2500.00 in total.
So after fighting with the lawyers and making someone cry and getting The owner of the law firm threatening to take me apart, and still pushing he's buttons for 2 more months, I agreed to pay R2500.00 on it, with no interest or the lawyers cost added on or we go to court.
None the less, front bumper, light and bonnet was stuffed, so I scrapped the spray painting of the car returned car to original look.
But here is the Opel with the designer bumpers.
