I thought I'd share some more photos of this spider. It really is one of the most beautiful spiders I've seen.
This one is from Orpen in The Kruger National Park and I think it is Augacephalus breyeri. And no I did not keep it, just catch, photos and release. Hope you like..
Damn dude, I can't believe you just pick them up like that. I've just realised that I'm a big pussy, because I don't have the balls to pick up my Pulchra.
Well you won't believe how placid this one actually was. Catching it was not easy, it took me 4hours to lead her out of her burrow, mimicing an insect with a stick... I wish I could see their natural behaviour at night, when they come out to hunt close to the burrow. I don't think they ever leave the burrow though, just catch prey like trapdoor spiders but without the lid.
