Hi all,

Wonder if anybody can shed some light

I have 3 T's and all of them have half coconut shell for a retreat, now the problem is that all off them poop and keeps there left over food inside there home

I cannot remove the coconut halves to clean, other wise I have to arrange all the bark and fake plants ecs.

Should I be worried or is ok for this to happen
Anybody else experiencing this and what do you do to remove all the nasty's?

Common problem for most keepers, how to arrange for esthetics and be able to reach and clean all nooks and crannies. You do have to remove them unfortunately, they will start to mould after a while and that is bad for your T, because of the gasses released by the fungus. ;)

Dont worry about it too much. If you are not keeping the substrate moist then you should not have any mould issues.

So as long as you dont mist the sides and substrate like most newbies you should be fine. But for prevention of mould you could collect some Isopods from the garden and add them to the enclosures.

Thanks guys,

I do not mist or keep the substrate moist, but all the t's do have a small water bowl for moisture and to drink from if so be.

What are Isopods and how do they look like?

Thanks again for the advise!

Hi Maurice, they are little grey fishmoth-like creatures that stick to damp undersides of structures and eat moldy leftover food boluses and funguses, very good to keep in your humid enclosures and will help you keep a clean environment. Also nice is that the T's won't eat them.
