Avicularia spp. was created by Tristan
I am quite interested in owning several of the Avicularia spp.

My research has led me to find two problems that I would like feedback on before I make any decision to purchase:

1) They require higher ventilation than other T's. How do members provide this for the T's?

2) "Avic Syndrome" - Avic's die suddenly without any apparent reason. What are the member experiences around this?

As always, thanks for any useful feedback! :)

I add more ventilation holes to the side of the enclosure than I usually would for other slings.
My A versi sling seems to be happy with that. I have not had any problems with it so far. I've had her for about 4 months, and she's molted about 4 times in my care.
Try to get a container that does not open on the top, but rather on the side, as Avics like to web in the verry top of the enclosure, and will web the lid shut, and you will have to break the webbing every time you open the lid.
I found a small round glass cookie jar, the ones with the scew-off lid on the side, that seems to be perfect for my versi sling. I've made the plastic lid full of holes, and that seems to be enough.
Avics are my favourite, getting another versi soon, and also had a A purprea MM.

I just leave a lot of ventilation, holes in the side of the cage and top.
Seems to work for me.
@ Yolandeb, is your Avic Purpurea still alive?

I house my Avics in normal arboreal containers (the ones with the glass lid and one ventilation grid on top)300x150x150.

The Pink Toe Tarantula should be kept in a large vertically oriented enclosure. I found that a modified aquarium or tall plastic storage tub also works well. As with the other species of Aviculara - requires the unique combination of high humidity and plenty of ventilation. This combination can sometimes be somewhat difficult to provide in captivity.
I suggest keeping the enclosure dry and spraying it with water every few days. The cage should be allowed to dry out in between misting.

I also recommend keeping live plants in the enclosure - that can add to the humidity and keep the spiders in their humidity range.

I have raised lots of avic species and within a week I will pull my aviculara sac - it looks like a successful breeding.
If you want to know more - you are welcome to come and visit me in Potchefstroom.
