Hi all!

I opened the 24 day old sack this morn
(thinking it will be a fine line to be eggs or eggs+legs)
Yet they were already very active eggs+legs! Whoohoo
I was surprised, thought they would have taken a bit longer to turn!

So i proceeded to open the 2nd sack thats only 17 days old!
to my astonishment - eggs+legs (very new) bit none the less
eggs+legs! Whoohoo! So early 17 days! :blink:

both clutces are now first instar!

although the one sack was made 7 days before the other
it turned 1st instar only 3 days before the other!
i have them at diff temps!

I have another B smithi making a sack,

She has put a bed of webbing down the size of a dinner plate!?

She never dug a hole or anything, just laid the carpet of webbing

on the flat ground, its the biggest 'egg bed' ive seen from any sp!

Just to add- i have a plastic half ball type dish that i put in the

females cages prior to them making a egg case, through the years

the 3 times ive bred B boehmei, they all used the container to construct the case in.

But not one of the 4 B smithi that ive bred have made use of this.

I also find B smithi make a much 'flatter' bed to lay eggs in than B boehmei

My B emilia also laid a flat bed! But ive only bred B emilia once, so will

have to see if its the same on the next ones!

So she is finished with the sack! its huge

ive actually seen her standing on it with all legs! :laugh:

Its so funny, looks like i took a juvie smithi and put it on a normal sack! :laugh:

And ontop of it all she is a big girl!

She lies with her body on it and her legs dont touch the floor! :laugh:

That is awesome, Maybe you could get some of the other Brachypelma sp to start breeding like klaasi, auratum and emilia. Need plenty more in the hobby

1..How long did the female take to spin the mat?
2..How long did it take her, from the start of laying the eggs to rolling the perfect ball?

3..For how long will you leave the egg sack with the female before removing it?
4..With a egg sack so large is the female going to be able to turn it?
