Hi all

My P. Formosa sling had a molt Saturday morning and when I saw her today I noticed her one front leg was missing. I am gutted.

On closer inspection of the molt I saw that the leg was still in the molt.
Now I know that this happens some times. She is not losing fluid and is active. So I am sure she is fine.

So my Q is this. How long will she take to regenerate the lost leg. As in number of molts.

Hi there.
Had the same with my B.smithi, it was about 4 cm.

Next molt the leg was back, very thin and funny looking. Second molt after the fact the leg was 100%.

Wow. That's fast. This little one is only about 2cm. She didn't grow that much with the molt. Thanks for the reply.

Yep, It's really quick. While their still small it happens in 2 molts.
I actually had 2 T's missing legs at the same time, both around 4/5 cm. They both molted twice in in a really short period of time and were back to normal before any one else even noticed. It did raise some question marks when one of the daughters B.boehmei molted twice in the same space of time as the wife B.emilia of the same size had one molt.

I'm open to correction but I think in the larger spiders it takes a molt or two longer.

Yup. Looks bad but is really nothing to worry about.
My L dificillis started with a crooked leg after a molt. Next molt it dropped that leg plus the two legs that got stuck to the crooked leg during the molt. Big purge, but sooner than expected it molted again with 3 brand new thinnish legs.
Friend's B boehmei lost a leg trying to escape through a bad airvent. Next molt she was 12cm DLS with the new leg almost full size, so I think 2 molts for larger spiders as well?
