Hallo guys and girls :rock

What size enclosure would you recommend for a mature male/female Lasiodora spp?

When using the following guidelines (Based on a legspan of 25cm):
- Length = 4X the tarantula's leg span
- Width = 2X the tarantula's leg span
- Height = 2X the tarantula's leg span

This gives me a tank with (L X W X H) of 1000mm X 500mm X 500mm. This looks very big.

Can I go smaller? I don't want space to become a problem.

Thanx

That sounds awesome for the tarantula, but unnecessary :) :spider:

Our biggest terrestrial cages are 570mm x 380mm x 320mm - and it is used for BEEEEEEG Theraposas. I'm sure you can even go a bit smaller than that !!!

Do you want to make the cages yourself ?

I'm planning on building a shelf complete with LED light strips and heating wire. So the dimensions of the various cages need to be determined before I can build the shelf. So I am trying to plan ahead for when my T's reach maturity.

I'm glad you suggested that a smaller cage will still be suitable. Ideally I would like to go 500mm x 300mm x 300mm but initially I deemed these dimensions to be on the small side.

I only have a 0.0.1 Lasiodora Klugi at the moment but I am planning on getting a Theraphosa Blondi/Stirmi and P.Muticus in the next year or so. The shelf must provide enough space for these T's as well.

I guess I'm over planning a bit.

I, who only today calculated how much space 30 odd pokies will take up when spring molting season rolls along and now have to go buy shelving (again) applaud your forward planning!

I'm not impossible. I'm being improbable.

Thanx for the compliments Marius. But I'll bet you once the shelf is built and ready to operate I have too many T's again and will probably start another shelf and cage building project

I'm curious to know how much space will 30 mature pokies take up?
