Hi everyone. So I'm trying the Coco Husk Substrate Brick for the first time. Added water and left it for an hour or so. I am just a little concerned...the texture seems very rough...and it looks if wood chips are present. Please have a look at the attachments below and give your opinions. Thank you

How much did that brick cost you?

It just allot "harder" than normally palm peat, they did less effort to grinding it down, The wood chips is from the palm trees which is ground down to make peat, so it is almost peat , some guys use this substrate for their snakes.

You can try it, but I would not use it, for one it looks messy and I think it will give prey items more places to hide. and it also not very natural looking for a spider.

Wow ja that does not look right. Weve been using palm peat bricks forever and never looked like that. Much much finer and seems too much water added. Think maybe you just bought a dud.hehe. so dont let this one put you off palm bricks. hehe

About R40.00. I usually buy Coco Peat (the biggish bag from Exo-Terra) which works like a charm. But I wanted to try the brick. Next time I'll do a thorough inspection before buying a brick. . .

This brick however...I use it in the garden.

Jake that's the texture I am use to. Carien I agree with you - definitely a dud...but I not put off yet.
