I recently got in touch with a lady from Herpetology Africa t/a Crickets for Africa
Seems like they are looking for agents in Pta area.

What I was wondering is would there be a demand for this by the people on the forum?
I would think most guys have their own setups or colonies for feeders.
They did send me an agent price list, but as I have only been in the hobby for aa few months I am not sure whether the prices are good or bad ? Sum total of my feeder purchases were one tub of crickets and a couple of weeks ago some Turks from Petbugs.
So I do not think I am going to be buying feeders any time soon.

She did tell me that their feeders were way better than any others on the market, quality wise, and after buying the crickets at my local petshop I do not find it too hard to believe.

I told her I would be sending out feelers to see if there is a demand, before I tell her yes or no.
Basically looking for some input/opinions from anyone.

In my opinion, crickets for africa has bad quality stock.
Use to be the only supplier that I use, but their numbers and quality dropped on a major scale.
Crickets from them die within a week.
Buy from petshops at the moment, but the containers have no branding on. These containers are full of crickers and last atleast 2 weeks without food or water (I tend to forget to feed my feeders sometimes. )

Have bought from Crickets for Africa at one of the last expos again and was once again disappointing.

I have had 2 of my buddies who have beardies tell me more or less the same thing.
Maybe I will see if they can send me some samples, to compare to other brands..

We only get these crickets here, so i cant compare them to anything else. But i keep my crickets alive for up to 7weeks from 3/4 size before they either die from me not feeding enough or all in my T's tummies. They dont seem to survive in the enclosure they are supplied in, i move mine to a bigger container once i get home and give them some food and then every week with great success.

Note that all their containers have a package date, this could give some guidance on how long they have been without food as some pet shops wont feed them or give them water at all once delivered.

Most pet shops get new stock in twice a week.

Crickets for Africa had some of the best feeders when I first started, but the life span of the crickets become really sort.

But it not only C.F.A that has issues, on a stage I was buying bulk crickets from my one of LPS in my area, 400 hundred crickets, the next day half of them wore all dead, then the guy brought the amount he has in a container down and made a huge amount of holes now they stay alive longer and are healthier.

And the the Pet shop in town cleans and feeds there crickets every second day, I have had crickets stay alive for close to a month in the same container that the crickets come in.

Coming back to your Question, you need to get your client base up and then you will sell your stock, you need to approach pet shops and see if they will be interested.
There is a market to sale crickets, you just need to do the leg work and find it! :drunk:
Also bearing in mind it not just about you getting the crickets you need to supply the shops so if you a full time job then you need to factor that in cause supplying one pet shop wont be worth your will you will have to do a good couple to make it worth your time and effort.

The reason they are looking for people to distribute crickets in PTA is most petshops I know have stopped stocking cricket that they receive from Crickets for Africa.
