Hi

I'm new and have recently purchased a G. Pulchripes Sling , the guy at the pet shop said "she" is about two months old.

I use the word she loosely as I don't know what it is I've named it Crumpet and feel bad about thinking of a boy with that name.

Anyway, I'm totally psyched about having her and am petrified of doing something wrong. I feel like a mother who's leaving her baby for the first time.

Does anybody know where I can get a care sheet specifically for G. Pulchripes slings.

Or if you could give me a list of Do's and Don'ts I will highly appreciate it.

Also how do I measure her size. I've tried but she's very active and doesn't sit still long enough for me to check.

Thanks

From the outset let me say, you should have done this before you bought her, but now you have, so here goes.

Start with google, you bought a rather common spider and there are millions of articles and care sheets on this species. There is nothing to be petrified about. Unless you neglect her completely, she will not go anywhere. She must have any form of water supply without drowning her in a 5 litre waterbowl, food once a week, relative temperatures, no fiddling or useless handling and your admiration, and she will flourish.

Concern yourself more with her care than her size, that has no significance at the moment. But as a matter of interest, you measure from the tip of left front leg to the tip of right rear leg OR visa versa. Do this when she sits on the side of her enclosure and be aware it's always an estimate, else you need a vernier.

PM me if you have questions.

Hi Scarab

Thanks so much for the advise. Just so I don't seem like a complete idiot, I did google before I got her, thats why I got a G. Pulchripes

:)

I however didn't plan on getting a sling, and have heard that they need lots of care.

My brother has a G. Rosea but he got her when she was 2 years old, and I didn't know if the same care would apply.

Just make sure the container doesn't dry out completely, and remove the food she doesn't eat in a day's time.
