What is its sex?? was created by Jake
Evening All

Finally my Poecilotheria ornata moulted this morning!
from 9cm to have not messured yet :P

If there is any members from the pokie club out there that can sex "HER" correctly for me?

I think she is a female! but I have none what so ever experiance in sexing these species.

This is the Girl in person about 2 weeks before her moult.

.

and then this is the moult

From what I read, the female has a whitish centre stripe on it's abdomen.
Seems you have a male then, same as mine :)

Get a pic of her/him now. Take a dorsal pic of the carapace and abdomen.
Please dont take this as a fight, but snakes shed and spiders moult. :)

Found this. Apparently the white is confirmed female, but non white is not necesarily a confirmed male.

The white on the carapace is also an indicator of possible female.
My male has a more solidly coloured carapace. Currently at the 12cm mark.
Compare to your's. Looks like you have some white on your ornata's carapace.

But exuvium is only 100% guaranteed method.

Synergy's is definately a male.
Cascade is still borderline on that pic, but the new pic after the moult should confirm.
Waiting in anticipation. :)
