I have a few questions that have been on my mind.
Please educate me :silly:

1. Do arboreal (specifically Psalmopeous) MALES develop "hooks" ?
2. Do Mature MALES ever eat?
3. Does Paring MM's with thier counterparts enduce sperm web construction?
4. Does paring premolt MF's with MALES enduce a sooner molt?
5. Is there such a thing as a "dud" specimen that simply will not mate?
6. I recently recieved a MM P. cambridgei, He is still active and fairly plump but i have not seen a sperm web. (he was kept on potting soil when i got him :blink: ) The previous owner assured me he has not made any sperm webs yet but he last molted (into maturity) about 4 months ago.
6a. Are there MM specimens that simply DO NOT construct sperm webs and are therefore infertile?
6b. Roughly, how long is the mating window for MM's?

I am sure that the answers are species dependent so could you please answer with regards to Psalmopeous and Stromatopelma.

1. Psalmopoeus do hook out, get Tibial spurs. Stromatopelma don't hook out, the only sign that it a Mature is it Pedi pulps. and long and lanky look.
2. Yes they do eat, not as much as a female does.
3. They make a sperm web by themselves.
4. No
5. There is a chance your male might not be fertile, also if a Male as an ultimate molt(another molt after its Maturing molt). then it will be infertile.
6. HE would have made a sperm web, the only way to tell is to look at he's pedi pulps if they are swollen then he got them loaded with sperm or you can put him with the female and see what happens, once he has used the sperm he will make a new sperm web. and Mature Males refresh there sperm once in a will, even if they have not been mated.
6a. As far as I now all males build sperm webs and make sperm.
6b. Up to a year. and they can live up to 2 years or longer.
