I would always like to know what the status is with my T's. Sometimes it is very difficult to "know" where they are, or what they're up to, especially my burrowing T's.
The other day I found my N.Chromatus dead underneath the substrate (peat mos and fine bark). I'm not sure why he died, but it was sad day for me though.

My question:
- Do you "fiddle" and check up on the little guys if you don't see any movement after 2 weeks or so?
- Do you still feed them on a regular basis? I tend to take out the crix or roaches after 24hours if it hasn't been eaten.

I don't really have any real burrowers currently but I know what you mean... I cannot pass my T's without checking up on all of them!!! I try not to disturb them too much but look from all angles to try and find them!

I think that is a very good question, Anthrax. I didn't use to check on the T's that were seriously hiding. When they didn't eat I assumed they were in pre-moult, which was the case every time until now.

BUT! I lost a juvenile P. striata female due to a stuck moult, and I think if I had checked up on her earlier I could have maybe saved her.

I still wouldn't dig my burrowers out unless for a very good reason. It's very stressful for them and can't be beneficial during pre-moult.

But if I feel something's amiss, I might take action earlier after what happened to my P. striata. I'd try to peek into their hiding places, maybe leave a little hole where I can quickly check now and then. If it's not possible without a major disturbance, I'd rather leave them and hope for the best. The most important thing would be anyway to check that the humidity is all right.

I think this is the perfect solution: snake cam , but it will cost an arm and a leg.
