communal setup with T's already inside

pill containers used as hiding places for pokies

I had completed my communal setup for what was supposed to be for my P regalis but changed my mind due to personal reasons so I put into the newly designed enclosure x3 Poecilotheria subfusca lowlands @ 5 cm in size. They are rather timid species very much like the P metallicas so its a risk as with all tarantulas but I'm doing this as an experiment so we can all maybe learn from it and remember they not together as slings and were separated and put together at size mentioned above. I have a cork backdrop with pill containers i just applied to the outer layers and covered with dry peat moss to give it natural texture and look natural in general. They are arboreal so i made the pill containers glued to the back section of enclosure so they have plenty hiding spaces and put in food so they don't look funny at their mates for a nice dinner :spider: temp is at around 26 degrees Celsius and humidity @75 %. I will post the pics up of the enclosure with tarantulas inside so look carefully and you will see them and please comment if you think the pill containers situated at back is a good idea???

one can already see the juveniles already webbing inside hides provided so its looking good and pic was taken @ 12 pm today.

Nice setup ! They were introduced at quite a bit size already and no sighns of fighting ? Could this be done with other pokies aswell ?

Now the question is where did you get so much of cork bark lol

ahoy Huzi. Do you know the pet shop @ hillfox centre in joburg they have plenty there. well all the pokies i've worked with they all seem to co-habit alongside each other and my theory on this could be that when a female is gravid on other species like ornata for example she might show a lil aggression towards the male because by nature they are cannibalistic.

this is a good test run showing communals don't have to be introduced as slings. the secret here i think is too keep them well fed and constant monitoring to which i will be doing.

the one P subfusca wondering around has finally cohabited with another one inn the pill cylinders so all ;looks lik its going well and on track. temp at 27 degrees and humidity @80% this morning :thumbsup:
