This has been on my mind for a while now. Do I have a different forum interface than some forum members? On my pages, there is a PM notification at the top. Then just to the right, I have a shoutbox. I strangely enough also have a page that says "Recent discussions". I can see all of these quit clearly when I am logged in.

What I am wondering about, if I can see all of these, do I still have to post in any thread or in the shoutbox when I send a PM to another member? Do I have to clutter the well intended posts of other members with "SENT YOU A PM" or constantly state it in the shoutbox?

My thinking is, and correct me if I'm wrong - if someone is logged in, he/she will see the PM without being notified of it in ten other places, and will reply if he/she sees fit. Perhaps my forum works differently, so guide me through this. Thanx.

I agree telling someone they have a PM in a thread is stupid!
When you get a PM a pop up box tells you so! & on the right of the page it
notifies you aswell! so very silly indeed to post it anywhere else! my thoughts anyway!

I very rarely read the shoutbox, so I will miss it anyway.

But perhaps the reason for putting a reply in a thread stating "Sent you a PM", specifically in a for sale thread, is to put dibs on a specific spider with everyone knowing the exact time it was done. You know the whole first come first served business. But again, then you might as well state that "my order has been placed" or whatever.

Anyway... just my 2c.

I don't get a pop-up box when I recieved a PM. I can only see it by checking the tiny little thingy at the very top of the page, which I sometimes miss.

Every PM has a date and timestamp. The recipient can see exactly when a PM was sent. I had to sell spiders in the past, based on that timestamp, but then I geuss like everything else, it boils down to honesty.

I know this is nothing serious, it's just my personal pet hate, like a lady at the supermarket shoving the till slip into my hand, then puts my change on top of it...
