Termites as food ! was created by Jacques
Would it be safe to give my T's termites ? I know the danger of general poison used my neighbours.. if they did use any poison, surely the termites would have been dead and not eating all my grass !!

Termites make magnificent food, but NEVER those freaky soldier ones. The safest in my experience is to catch the virgin queens as the fly out from the nest after rain. They drop their wings once captive, and unfortunately die pretty quickly after, but when fresh and feisty, my T's devour as many as I introduce.

Thank you for that.. since the spiders will eat allmost anything when they are in the wild, and a change of food source can only be good from time to time.

I am just to lazy to go dig for them, but remember that a variety of mammals live from Termites ONLY. They have a very high nutritional value.

I cleaned out some of my tanks this weekend and low and behold in the avic avic's tank under the water dish were four healthy fat termites that I had popped into the tank about six weeks ago. They had burrowed into the substrate and were getting ready to start laying eggs I presume.
About three weeks ago my Smithi tore it's tank apart presumably to get at the termites and woodlice. There were no termites left in it's tank.

@ IcarusZulu: I doubt that the Termites would have laid eggs, although all worker termites are female there is a very slim chance they would lay eggs.
Got plenty of termites in an artists garden here in good ol Smithfield.
Haven't had the time to catch any yet.
