2 years ago a pigeon flew in my folks home, the difference with this pigeon is that he never left. (We tried to set him free MANY times). He was a big part of our family!

Well, unfortunately he passed away yesterday. :(

Nandos RIP my little buddy! Will miss you sooo much. Was an honour to have you crap on my shoulder and peck at my toes.

(PS. Glad your friends come to pay there respects!)

What a fantastic story. Sounds like he lived a good life! I had a similar experience with a laughing dove... found her as a small chick, raised her and released her but 3 years later she was still with us - however all of the free food helped her to put on a bit more weight than is normal and I think a goshawk must have caught her.

The early bird gets the worm... but the early worm gets eaten by a bird.

Is amazing huh. Nandos was a full grown pigeon when he came flying into our home. He decided not leave.

We also have a dove that just invited herself into our hearts. She followed my husband into the house and has never left, he used to release her every morning but every night she'd be outside waiting for him (Sometimes she would even follow him to work and wait on the car for him to come out.

The only person she likes is my husband and she attacks anyone who comes near him, I call her the mistress of the house. Regardless of her mean streak I love her to bits and we have a special love/hate relationship.

Sadly she is very old and won't be with us for much longer (We've had her for two and a half years now). She won't fly anymore and hardly has a voice at all.

I'm really sorry for your loss, an animal that chooses you is one that stays in your heart forever.
