Anyone else have T's in premolt? was created by Shane Visser
With this hot weather we've been having over the last 2 weeks, I have a few spiders in premolt, and a T. ockerti busy molting now.

Anyone else have a few T's getting ready to molt? What species are they?

I assume T's don't really molt during winter, unless artificially heated.

I think my B. Albopilosum is in premolt. She hasnt eaten for two weeks now and she has gone really dark.

Yup, that's a pretty sure sign. Looks like the weather is turning though. It's probably going to get cold again. Maybe keep it close to a heat source. I'm going to turn the heater on tonight.

Here some of my T's I am suspecting te be in premolt:

2x P. Fasciata's- both around 8-9cm
1x P. Formosa- 3-4cm
3x P. Regalis- 3-13cm
1x H. Maculata 2-3cm
2x B. Smithi

These have all molted the past 7 days:

1x P. Fasciata 13cm
4x B. Albopilosum 2cm
2x G. Rosea 4cm
2x C. Fasciatum 4-5cm
1x P. Irminia 9cm
1x P. Cambridgei 3cm

All the others not showing any signs of premolt yet.

What happens when a T is in premolt, and the weather turns dramatically. So let's say the average max temp drops from 27 to say 17. Will the T still molt without any hassles?

My T's in premolt:

10cm female P. machalla
11cm female B. auratum
5cm T. ockerti (just molted)

@ Shane: I am not sure of all species, all my T's are kept at a constant 28.5 degrees during the day, and 25.5 degrees at night. ( I cant get rid of the damn .5 on the thermostat, hence the halves)

But before I had that up and running again my B Vagans, B. Albiceps and a few others molted okay at about 19-20 degrees.
