So I was just thinking about building an Entire new TV cabinet for our living room that would have two custom made spaces left and right of the TV for nice large arboreal enclosures that could house a communal collection of Poecilotheria...

AND THEN IT DAWNED ON ME...

I take VERY special care to re-house just one large Pokie... How would things go when you need to re-house an entire enclosure full of large Pokies?? Or just to clean out the enclosure of all the bolusses?

1 at a time is the logical answer... but what if one of them bolts and scares more of them into bolting and your whole friggin living room is full of Pokies??

Anyone done this yet? Please share your experiences...

A dog is only as dangerous, as the mentality of its owner.

That guy makes it look so easy...

Isn't the TV's speakers going to affect the spiders? The sound vibrations are a lot more overwhelming to them than to us.

Other than that, if possible, put the old enclosure inside the new one, maybe?

I Just rehoused a communal of 6 Poecilotheria Striata's this weekend. No easy task and a bit ass clenching, but it went off without incident. Actually was quite easy too. Placed the old enclosure inside a large plastic container, opened the lid, and left them. After about an hour they were all out of the original enclosure and patrolling around in the large plastic container. So I removed the old enclosure and one of them decided to bolt out. (box tape and vaseline has no use with pokies, trust me on this ;) ) I then removed the lid and stuck paper over the top of the container, and left one space open about the size of the new enclosure's opening. I inverted the container with the opening in the paper over the opening of the enclosure, and with a little bit of encouragement, they were all snug into their new home and enjoying the bamboo hides. Initially had a piece of bamboo for each individual, but they all crammed into the same one, so I removed a few.

Well done. Looking good. :)
Rehousing on the lawn is always a good idea. Grass stops Ts dead in their tracks. They bolt full speed as soon as they hit the grass, they seem to be running at 99% CPU to try and figure out what the hell this stuff is and how to navigate. Making it very easy to manipulate them into their new home.
My pissed off female P cambridgei (Her exoskeleton would deform into a permanent threat pose if possible) was threat posing all the time until she touched the grass, just sat their until I moved her new home next to her, she ran inside and stayed there (About 15 seconds later, threat pose again).
