:( :(

Woke up early this morning coz I have a long road to drive, and was so excited because one of my very first T's. an Avicularia avicularia (Pink Toe) named merrell had webbed herself closed last night and had flipped in preparation for her next molt, she was a 10cm stunner and would have been moulting into a great new suit and size...

Alas, when I woke up, I went straight from my bed to check on her and she was laying in her hammock, stuck inside her molt and had passed on somewhere during the night. I believe when she webbed herself closed, the little hammock was too small, and during molt there was not enough space for her to push the old exuvium off and she was unable to extract herself.

I am truly, truly sad. This was without a doubt my most favorite and docile T, the only one I handle from time to time, and would give her the chance to jump from my hand to my bed or onto my chest, lol, she loved jumping.

You may remember this pic:

Anyway, here is a pic of her stuck in the molt, she would have been gorgeous today...

Heavy Sad...

I feel your pain. I would just be as sad if my very first T and favourite called Beast should pass away. And what a nice specie Merrell was from

That really sucks mate, a sad sight to wake up to. I recently lost a juvenile Avic.avic to humidity. I have lost one spider in a moult, a ten year old B.vagans. It had a ruptured abdomen and was truly horrible to watch as there is nothing you can do.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am new to this hobby and would hate for that to happen.
How does one go about avoiding this situation? do you just ensure the temp and humidity are at optimal levels at all times and especially during a molt?
