Marius, crickets. We have now changed to roaches and Niekie plans on starting his own roach colony where he has strtict quality control.

From what we have read so far, crickets do seem to be a contributing factor to DKS. Is that your opinion too?

Yes. My unqualified opinion.

From the DKS thread on arachnoboards and other cases the only single similarity that stands out for me is crickets as feeders.
Remember, pet shop cricket diet is often supplemented to aid reptile health. My theory is that these supplements are not single serving toxic, but as tarantulas have no way to filter and secrete these, the toxins build up to lethal level.
Or crickets are just dirty little jumpy bastards.

Either way you won't regret switching to your own roach colony.
