So I received a Tapinauchenius cupreus (Violet Tree Sp.) for Christmas and I've been left a bit in the deep end.

Before buying a T, I do quite a lot of research to make sure I can give it the best life possible. However, as this was a gift I'm left unprepared. To make matters worse, there's not a great deal on T. cupreus or the husbandry involved. I've read so far that they're incredibly fast with "teleport" abilities although not too venomous or aggressive (though skittish). I've also read that they're similar to keep to Avics. I have an A. avic (Pinktoe) and I've read they like humidity (but not dampness) and a lot of ventilation to thrive.

My problem comes that myT. Cupreus' plastic container (still a sling) doesn't have ANY holes for ventilation. Should I add some? And should I try keep it's enclosure humid like the A. Avic? Currently it seems fairly dry. Bit worried to mist her (positive thinking) and then she runs like a crazed demon or gets defensive. Small container after all.

Any information on the species, tips or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Tried finding other posts on the forum, but don't really help my situation.

I received a cupreus as a gift for my 24th in September. Also had no idea on husbandry requirements but so far the little thing is doing really well and has had 2 successfull molts.
I keep him/her in a standard TERRESTRIAL tank with a tall piece of drift for arboreal living. The T does tend to spend all of its time in a burrow close to the ground. I have a 12cm female cupreus that I have in a standard arboreal enclosure and she's doing just fine. My T room is set at roughly 30 and humidity is at about 80%.

The cupreus is one of my favorite T's, they really are amazing looking and the dimples on the abdomen are really cute

My "sling" is now around the 6cm mark and started to spend more time off the ground. But up until the last molt, it has been mostly tucked away in its burrow.

Those dimples are beautiful and the satin sheen on their abdomens are stunning as well.

Id definitely add a couple holes for ventilation bro

Ja holes come standard with all Ts.

It is still small so it gets all its water from its food. It wont need a spray ,just drop some water into the peat with a syringe if you like.

Somma give it a 125 ml container as well seeing as it is christmas.

The piece of wood Panama uses is the reason why it doesn't silk the lid closed(it needs a structure to build on or it will use the roof).
