Hi guys,

I am still new to this hobby but recently came across a gentleman who is selling Haplopelma minax, are these T's any good and what are they valued at roughly for a 2cm-3cm T. Thanks.

H. minax are probably not the ideal t for a beginner. They are quite aggressive BUT, they are pretty rare in the hobby so I would encourage you to get your hands and a few if you can afford them, you'll be glad you did in the long run when you are a more experienced keeper. They are similar to the H. lividum (besides for being in the same genus) in the sense that they are know as "pet holes" - you won't see them very often.
I wouldn't pay over R350 for a sling. Where are u getting them from?

Noob,

the H.minax is like the UFC champion when it comes to Tarantulas, they are VERY aggressive when it suits them, they can literally tackle prey like a street brawler, they also have a nasty bite as an old world species and as mentioned they do tend to be pet holes. But also as mentioned if you are able to raise it carefully and learn how to deal with the species over time, you will no doubt love this T.

I too would really like to get my hands on some so please let me know the details of who is selling them. And yes for slings I would not pay more than R350 or so.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the help and reply's, I have purchased them from the guy at R450 a sling after negotiating with him. He wanted R600 if i take all 6 from him i ended up taking the lot at R2700. They are about 3CM in size. Now one thing i have been told is that people sell these as Haplopelma minax but sometimes they give you Haplopelma lividum instead. How would i know at that size if its the real deal?

Regards
