I need some advice. I'm soon to be moving to PTA and I have a big concern about moving my collection. I wouldn't want to move them while still in their glass enclosures. I have 500ml plastic deli cups with lids which I think will work for moving them but is there anything that I have to put in the cups with them for extra support eg. tissue or substrate. They will have to spend about 48 hours in the cups before the can be rehoused in their enclosures.
I would really like to cause as little stress as possible. The total traveling time will be 4.5 hours, but with packing and unpacking taken into consideration and I'm planning to leave early in the morning (this means I'll have to pack them and their enclosures the night before).
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

This is no biggie. I have transported my entire collection with me on holiday already. Don't laugh ok, lol.

I left them in their tanks and placed the tanks in to boxes, but basically wrapped and filled all the spaces in and around all the tanks with normal bath towels. They absorb all the shock but also allows everything to breath.

What you need to worry about is sunlight if you are going to be travelling for that long. You need to find a way of putting towels in your car windows etc to keep direct sunlight away from your T enclosures and of course do not leave the car anywhere in the sun, if the interior climbs above 35deg... you are in for a T-kebab...

Try and cushion the boxes and use the rear seatbelts to secure the boxes in place so prevent sliding around. That's about all I did and my T's were fine.

Thanks for getting back to me. My problem is that I have a 'bakkie' with a canopy and it can get quite hot in the back while traveling and I will also have a bunch of my stuff loaded in the back. I'm currently moving from Limpopo to PTA. I figured that if I can 'package' them in smaller containers than they can ride up front with me and the enclosures in the back. That way I can also regulate the temp with the aircon.

I have about 5 1 foot size enclosures and a bunch of the 10cm by 10cm enclosures. The smaller ones I'll keep as they are but there won't be enough space for the larger ones.

I have the following:
These are the 5 that I worry the most about.
1 adult B. smithi 14cm
1 sub adult B. albopilosum 8cm
1 sub adult B. vagans 8cm
1 sub adult L. parahybana 10cm
1 sub adult C. fasciatum 6cm

The rest are in 10x10cm cages which I can keep like that while traveling and they include
2 B. albopilosum 3-5cm
2 L. parahybana 1cm
1 G. rosea 4cm

I will be traveling around 400km which will take me 4 hours I plan to leave early morning to avoid driving during the heat of day.
I have a bunch of round 500ml plastic deli cups which is about 15cm in diameter and about 10cm deep. Will this do if I have to 'package' them??

Ok you can actually leave the spider in the tanks, just remove any hides or anything that can move around and hurt your spider, then you can travel with in the back of the bakkie.
It is almost better for them.

Just put them under every thing so they don't get direct sun and close to the back, then they will be fine.
Since you leaving early in the morning you will be in PTA before it gets to hot, and anyway it is getting colder so you really don't have to worry about the heat, you will be in PTA in the early Afternoon.

just stick your lids down with tap to stop them from moving around.
If you don't feel happy about doing that way, you can use the plastic deli cups you have and just put them in a night before you leave, you can also put then in the back, close to lid at the back so you can also stop and check on them if you worried about them. Also avoid direct wind.
