Hi all. I'm a total beginner and just got my first T today. A little choco approx 5-6 cm. My question is regarding a heating pad. I purchased one from the pet store that looks like a sheet of foil with wiring in. How do I use it. The woman at the store said that I need to place like a ceramic dish between my T's enclosure and the heating pad? How long do I leave it on and is it safe? Thx in advance.

Hi and welcome tot he forum.

You need to attach the heating pad to the outside on the side of the tank, so the spider can regulate it heat by it self.

You only need to put the heating pad on during the night and leave it off during the day.
With regards to heating and the the dry winter air it is advisable to have a water dish and mist the corner away from the heated glass as water and hot glass don't go together and can crack.

Heating pads are safe, but just be safer you can install a thermostat or a timer to switch it on and off.
