hi marius ive taken ure ad vice and changed the substrate to shredded coco husk she seems happy so all good thanks do you thik i should change my roseas to this or is it a bit too damp ? thanks again

I have no experience with G Rosea, so I don't quite know what's ideal for them. The fun thing about coconut husk peat is you can let it dry out, or keep it as damp as you want.

I read in another post you mentioned wondering whether the peat is too damp. To test, take a fistful of peat and squeeze. If you can squeeze out drops, it's too wet.

she was ok at first but now not sure shes sitting on top of her hide and wont stand on the substrate maybe its because shes always been on wood chips so not sure what to do now going to dry some out and cover lightly if not going to have to get the wood chips back out i think just want whats best for her

HI Dean, i noticed that you have a G,rosea, you should keep them bone dry! no moisture in the substrate at all!they realy dont like it damp,a water bowl in one corner is all that you will need for it,if you must, then over flow the water bowl once a week or so,just a little,your rosea will thank you for it.

The Peat might just be a bit too moist and the T is avoiding it.

Remove the peat and let it dry out a bit or add some more dry peat on top and see if it makes a difference. Or if possible remove some of the wet peat and put dry peat on one side of the enclosure only - and see if the T finds it's way over there, that will be a clear indication of what it prefers.

As with G.rosea, they will stand on a rock or sometimes hang on the sides of the enclosure and get downright miserable if the substrate is too moist. Dry peat with a nice big water dish should be perfect for your L.Parahybana, so keep us posted.

I have 2 G.Rosea, they both have coco husk and its bone dry(besides the dedicated moist corner where i spray my water along the glass so it runs down into this corner)!

They are fully at home, digging and creating strange little caves and overhangs
