Anybody know why my L. parahybana and my B. boehmei keep covering up their water bowls with substrate? Especially the L. parahybana ... Too warm/humid in the cage?

It's a see through plastic cage with ventilation holes ... (Reason why I don't keep it in a glass cage - the T keeps on climbing the walls, and due to it's big size (almost a year old), I don't want it to fall and break a leg or 8!) ...

I don't think it's a substrate problem - The boehmei is doing much better on the dry substrate, it hated the moist peat I put in originally .... just sat in the corner for days on end on the moist peat ....

Would gladly change the cage setup if that is the problem .... or is it just a weird T thing?

Nah, it's just what they do. My P. cancerides and N. chromatus are always filling their bowls up with Peat and I just leave them to it.

T's love to redecorate, many of mine do the same thing and I will empty it clean it and then put in right way up, they immediately empty the water over their substrate and fill it with peat. I think they like to hide their water bowls.
