My grammostola rosea, was kind enough to allow me the pleasure in seeing her molt, what an amazing sight it was.
On 27 September 2013 I got home and as usual checked up on my T's and then went about my things, an hour and a half later I checked up on them again to do the usual filling up of their water bowls and low and behold Jami had flipped and was ready to molt.

Jami was laying dead still so I thought let me give it half an hour then check up on her again, when I did she was kicking away and my excitement grew, I planted myself in front of her enclosure, flashlight focused on her and I watched her kicking and moving out of her old skin with great fascination and excitement, it took her about an hour and a half to complete her molt.

If someone had been a fly on the wall I am sure they would have had a good giggle at me, as I could not help but cheer her on, and when she would take little breaks in between I actually closed my eyes crossed my fingers and say come on Jami you can do it.

I so badly wanted to take pics of the whole process, but I didn't want to disturb her as I know it is a very stressful stage for tarantulas. and I wasn't going to risk it. Seeing Jami molt was such a joy and once again made me realize why I fell in love with the 8 legged creatures.

Four days later she started eating again and still does, her prey hardly touches ground in her enclosure on she is on them feeding.

I Am An Angel I Am A Devil,
I Am Sometimes In Between
I Am As Bad As It Can Get ,
I Am As Good As It Can Be
Sometimes I Am A Million Colours,
Sometimes I Am Black And White
Try To Figure Me Out You Never Can,
There Are So Many Things I Am
I Am All Extremes,
I Am Purple Virgo Vixen.

Hi Vixen, had the same experience a week ago with my emilia. I understand your fascination and awe. I too sat there for about two hours in amazement and only went to bed at about 12 that night. The new colors are so dramatic and the growth so unbelievable, it still amazes me. I rescued her molt and was rewarded with positive identification of a female. She's still not eating though, but sits in the open often and I can hardly get enough of her beauty. None spider people cannot understand this. B)

Africa is a tough country. When the going gets tough, we get going.

Thank you Deon, it is good to know I am not the only one that gets over excited when T's molt. And you're so right, people who don't keep tarantulas, are dumbfounded in our fascination of our 8 legged creatures.
