very similar to me, but if i have to look at carapace, it still looks very Tigrinawesseli?

I'm confused? Carapace colouration has 0% to do with species identification. In pokies its leg patterns
Look at the patella on the first leg of the original picture (Look at the front right leg, as the left one has hairs missing from where it has rubbed against something which might be confusing you guys). Do you see that it is totally white? The white even extends onto the femur and tibia.
Now look at your picture of the tigrinawesseli. White on femur and about half of the patella. The solid white leg pattern is broken by a big black band.
Look at the picture of my miranda that I posted. All white patella again.
Clear cut case here.

Sorry for stupid question, but I was under the impression that one could indeed id Pokies by carapace pattern?



Not ideal, as the spider above just proved though.

Carapace markings can narrow it down to 'groups' of similar species, but the leg patterns are the accurate way to id them.

Well guys, that pic was posted as a P. Regalis on the net. So looks like it confused most people :silly: even the person who posted it. If you do look very carefully at the patella and compare P. Miranda to P. Tigrinawesseli, you should come up with P. Miranda.

@ Marius, I have tried the carapace identification and have more often than not come out more confused. Leg patterns are the only good way to help identify Pokies as far as I have realized, and more so a pokie's ventral leg patterns. The Regalis, Ornata, Fasciata and Rufilata is easy to pick out, but I still more often than not find myself calling on some help to make sure. (Thanks Cerat )
