So the day has finally arrived I just got this little guy/girl from mammon and I am Ecstatic!
after a long weekend of waiting and some restless nights I finally got my first tarantula

He/She is housed in a 5cm x 5cm x 7cm(The top Dimension)

The Substrate is called spider peat from my local pet-shop.

I did mist it. but not to much. the Humidity in my snake's cage is around 70% so Im guessing the slings is about the same(I cant exactly put the hygrometer inside of the small container) think its the rain.

I used the small 10ml vile that he/she was shipped in as a little hide. I am not keen on introducing any fungus and bacteria.

Now My only huge problem is food for the little T.. I asked the pet-shop if they would have smaller size crickets available and they said tomorrow so Il go check.. I was actually planning on giving him/her a little time to get use to the new surroundings.

Do you think the container is to big?

Any Input/Suggestions are welcome. I am extremely new to spiders and would like all the help I can get

True, But isnt there a risk that they might be contaminated by pesticides and toxin?

The container size is fine.
The important thing about the enclosure is that the T must be able to find it's prey. Which I am sure you will make happen because it is fun watching them hunt and attack the prey. So no worries there.

With regards to feeders. You can always get roaches instead of crickets. With my first 2 G pulchripes slings I got a small container with about 15 tiny roaches. The Ts enjoyed them. They live longer and don't smell bad.
Keep in mind that some (perhaps all, I am no expert) species of roach especially when they are small, tend to burrow. So make sure your T catches the roach. Even if you have to chase it toward the T. It is a vital source of liquid as well.

With regards to the tarantula.
It will probably burrow and create a new home, so don't worry too much if it doesn't use the hide. Mine just moved the stuff around and basically recreated the entire burrow every day.

But yeah, the photos bring back memories of my 2 little guys. They were so cute and they grow up so fast.

do urself a favour and invest in some roaches, get a colony up and running now and u will always have a supply of food going of all sizes. otherwise u can also buy some mealworms, they also multiply nicely on their own (just remember to squash the head otherwise they bury themselves). I have never bought pin heads for any of my slings, they usually just eat what they want from what food i put in for them.
