Here is a bigger one we found in an abandoned barn.

Much bigger. Some of the exuvia are approx. 6cm LS.

I believe these are some rain spider nests. No adults in sight, but the male is apparently killed and stored inside for the little ones to feast on when they emerge.

This one is about the size of a rugby ball. and there were plenty of them around.

Not sure what this spider is called. Just saw a little ball hanging from the centre of a web. When I touched the web, it started moving. Was very low to the ground on a plant so couldn't get a nice shot from below.

any ideas?

Second favourite bug photo from the weekend. An approx. 8mm jumping spider.
I tried to coax it out without luck. But got some nice shots, this is probably the best.

This is the last and my favourite shot from the weekend.
this was a baby that emerged from the jumping spiders little nest the next day.

This was really tiny, about 3/4mm in size. It was sooooo cute.
I moved a twig about 5cm from it and it followed the twig. Rotating on the spot. Was the best thing I have ever seen any spider do.

Didn't want to take it out or anything, but got some nice photos.

These are community nest spiders (Erisidae Stegodyphus sp.).
And just for interest sake, rain spiders dont kill the male and store it for the babies to eat. Must be an old wives tale on the farms.
