So 20 days ago I discovers the egg sack today I discovered about 50 slings out the sack on the lid of the jar and mommy still clinging to the sack. I wonder if more will be climbing out tonight. Going to let them go this weekend down at the park. Anyone have an idea how long I should wait before trying to breed her with my male?

Sorry a bit off topic, but what kind of camera and lens did you use to take these pics??

I used a Canon EOS 450D with 18-55mm lense. I may have used a 10 diopeter magnifier. I have sevral diopeter magnifiers they work out cheaper (R1,500.00) than a closeup lense (R10,000.00). I have 1x, 2x, 4x, 10x - they can all be screwed together to amplify the magnification.

I was phoned to remove a HUGE spider not far from my home and I hoped it would be a baboon spider as the adress was near a koppie where i found baboon spiders as a kid. When I arrived i found the largest rain spider ive seen to date and i placed it in a tank to possibly use in my demos to schools on animals and animal care. A few days and 2 huge brown crickets later she had a egg sack on he enclosure lid which she guards day and night. I will set some of the young free in my garden and some in the koppies around my home. Just nice to observe and experience and I hope one day my kids and their kids will be able to enjoy this as well. We need to start educating them now to preserve such treasures for future generations.
