So far so good !
The venue is close to the N1 north. Address and directions will be published once a date has bee set. Taking into account that all Expo's are held at Ceasers Palace (Kempton Park), Walter Sesulu Hall (Randburg) and Kayalami, one feels it's fair that at least one social event must be in Pretoria. In this case, the Eastern burbs, relatively central to all.
We understand that this years auction will be a full day event to accommodate all the procedures and activities. A good 4 - 5 months still lies ahead, so once the date is set, keep the day open.
The following few thoughts on the event (to improve on last year):
Registration and entries of sellers will be between 9 and 11.
Sellers must remember and provide on entry:
- Name, Cellphone number, Id number, Common- and scientific name of the spider.
- Spiders are sold WITH the enclosure.
- Provide a reserve price if applicable.
- Collect funds from the Auctioneer AFTER the event, or provide a banking account number for deposits the following Monday.
- May not remove "unsold" spiders before the event concludes.
- May not sell "unsold" spiders privately during the event, but may do so outside the venue AFTER the event.
- The auctioneer can not take care of "unsold" spiders after the event, all must be collected.
NO INDIGENOUS AND/OR ILLEGAL SPIDERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES.
There will be a viewing period of 1 hour, between 11H00 and 12H00 , during which time tables selling Tarantula related paraphernalia, snacks and the like can be supported.
Please write down the lot number of your interest during this period. Viewing of lots during the auction will not contribute to smooth running of the event.
The auction will commence at 12H00.
Buyers must:
- The auctioneer will indicate the lot number.
- Buyers must have an auction number to which bids will be taken.
- If a bid is won, your number will be noted in writing, together with the closing bid price.
- The enclosure/s will be marked with your number.
- No payment and collection will be allowed DURING the auction.
There will be a 30 minute break for "wee and tea"...
An overhead data projector will project an image of the spider currently on auction. (A notebook/laptop will get those from Google or locally stored image file and will not be an image taken of the actual spider on auction, but merely an aid to the buyers).
There will be an official AUCTION thread started with date and rules. We will endeavor to secure a few exhibitors and will indicate those on the auction thread.
