Lovely Karin, remember to keep us updated on their lifespan every now and then :)

You can take an Aphonopelma to crickets but you can't make it eat!

The longest I believe I've heard a female rain spider lived is close to 4 years, but very few actually makes it that far. Hopefully yours will go far.

Fantastic spiders and nice pics :)

I had seen a few of these around the various houses I have lived in and I have always "enjoyed" their company. It was my grandfather who once showed me a rain spider bigger than my hand (I was 5 at the time :). When I wanted to squish it with a brick he calmly sat me down and explained to me how we should appreciate the little amazing creatures around us and watch over them rather than destroy them. Those who know my previous posts on the old forum will know I had an intense fear of spiders, yet I always remember that rain spider and my grandfathers words so every spider that I felt intruded too far into my space was carefully collected in a glass with a sheet of paper and released either in the garden or another room :)

Those spiders looks pretty cool :)

I don't think the previous thread has been moved to the new forum, but I wouldlike to keep the sequence of pics to show the life of these guys.
