Ok, so my Dad is SERIOUSLY freaked out by Spiders, but after three of us in our family are now all keeping T's he's decided to join the BEGINNERS team and give it a try, but he just wants one BIG spider that we can place in his office that he can show to guests at meetings etc... and freak them out too.

I am having a tank built by PetStop who always do a very good job, (thanks Shaun) and it should be ready by the end of the week...

Now, I have R1500.00 (incl delivery) to spend on a NICE BIG T, something that would look great in an office display, and that is normally out in the open I am thinking:

A.geniculata
B.smithi / auratum / emilia / boehmei
G.pulchripes

I am kindly asking everyone to let me know if you have any of the above or let me know if you can think of some other T that would look great in an office display and for that price. Just something BIG, something GOOD LOOKING, and something VISIBLE.

(I know this could have gone under the wanted section of classifieds, but I'd like input as well as any spiders that are available, and with the current classifieds system that's not going to work too well.)

I think under your conditions a genic or brocklehursti would be best, as they grow pretty large in a rather short period of time, are out in the open for most of the time, and look stunning in a display with real plants or plastic plants because of their contrasting colours :woohoo:

I find that Nhandu tripepii makes a very nice display spider when they get bigger, they seem to be out and about allot of the time.

What about Lasiodora species, I also find that they are also out and about allot of the time.

Chilobrachys huahini Not really a display spider but makes one awesome web display, and came some times been seen outside which at the end of the day is stunning to look at makes one wonder where the thing is

hey i have a 9cm Brachypelma boehmei. shes a very good loocking and healthy spider. 1yr old. moulted sunday. still young but seriously 1 of the best looking t's around. good for beginners 2
