My B. vagans has been chilling at the air vent in the enlosure all the time during the day.
Do I need to improve the ventilation in the enclosure or should I leave it. I want too keep the humidity up but as soon as I provide more ventilation the humidity drops.

I think he is just using it as a grip to scale the cage. Don't worry about it too much.

Increasing ventilation is a good idea if you are keeping species like Avics.

How many vents do you have at the moment in your enclosure?

What is the humidity you are keeping your spider at and why?

Let's start with the fundamentals:

1> How big is your vagans (diagonal leg span or DLS)?

2> Why do you want to keep the humidity up?

3> At what level do you want to keep the humidity?

4> How do you know that you're keeping the humidity up?

5> At what level is the humidity now?

6> Besides reduced ventilation, are you doing anything else to change the humidity? What?

And yes, photos would help a lot.

The more ventilation the better for the spider!!!!!!!!!!! Just don't go over bored lol I am assuming you have one of those glass cages with the white air vent that all the pet shops in S.A sell? They are nice cages but who ever makes them has no idea what good ventilation is because they suck badly on that side. I honestly believe that cross ventilation is key. 1) it stops mould 2) gives your spider fresh air all the time 3) keeps your substrate dry which stops mites and other pests... Almost all Tarantulas can adapt to a bone dry enclosure provided you have a water dish 24/7 and you clean the water dish out once a week spiders love clean drinking water!!!!!!!! If you worried about extra humidity over flow your water dish a bit so just the substrate around the dish is damp and the the rest of the cage is dry with will provide adequate humidity...

The 1st Picture is how the pet shop spider tanks look. Very Bad air ventilation... put nicely its SH!?.... Tanks are nice but ja thats all.

Yeah I have one of those SHI? tanks atm but I made a small gap between the lid for better ventilation, it seems to be working, he/she is chilling elsewhere besides the vent.

He/She has a 6cm leg span. I think I want the humidity above 60% because I've read a couple of care sheets telling me that. I approximate the humidity with a hygrometer. There's a water dish with weekly cleaning and topping up. He/she eats like there's no tomorrow and looks almost ready for pre-molt (very dark spot getting darker on back side)

My camera's busted atm busy fixing it (Canon 1000d with alot of dust between the CMOS and 1st IR filter) all you can see is dust spots... so no pics atm sorry.
