My big concern at the moment is should one place a fake plastic plant with your T?
reading up on heating pads, combining that with the plastic which can melt, and relaese even more toxins, should they really be placed in the T's enclosure?

I don't think that heating pad will melt the plastic... If your heating pad can melt the plastic imagine what it will do to the tarantula. I've always kept fake plants, No problems what so ever

Heating pads wont melt the plastic plants.
They will just become warm, just don't put them against the heating pad if you are worried.

I've had a fake plant that reeked to high heaven. I took it back to the pet shop, and exchanged it for crickets. Rule of thumb. If it has a strong smell, don't use it.
