Hey everyone, first post and brand new to the hobby and own three T,s. So a week back while me and my girlfriend where walking to my place and saw a few workers that are digging up trenches along the side of the road freaking out about something, we investigated and it turns out a baboon tarantula was dug up in the process. So we decided to rescue the little chap and some research later I found out they are illegal and we planned to let this little guy lose but now he or she is sluggish and not eating and was eating happily before so I suspect a molt soon so I rate its best to let this guy get on with it and freedom shall be under his eight legs again. So my question is what species is this if anyone knows? I am dying to know and wow is this one aggresive bugger.

Where was the spider found? location?

I think it is a A. junodi (golden baboon spider)

It's a pity that they are illegal as that is one pretty specimen. I have no idea what it is but I'm sure someone can help you.

You smoke too much as do I nicotine is highly toxic to insects. That said looks like you plan on keeping the poor sod with investment in the glass cage and substrate...

Thanks for the replies much appreciated. This guy was found in Boksburg, parkdene alongside a veld next to a bokkie park. Would love to keep this one, the gold on his carpace looks awsome under the right lighting but he has to go and yes I did put effort into his housing and this was before I knew the law. As for the spent cancer sticks we brought the tank into the lounge where smoking is done, for a photo as the lighting was better and no smoking is done around the others.
