History:

I've been noticing a lot of ants the past few weeks in my house and haven;t thought much of them. That is until I noticed they were all over my cricket tubs last night. I feed my T's only crickets at the moment but I am considering roaches at a later stage. I keep my crickets high up on a shelf where the cats can't reach them, but i didn't think about ants.

Question:

Where and how can I keep my crickets safe from ants? Any tricks of the trade I should know about?

Hi, I have had the same problem, lost my entire cricket colony twice, I have got my crickets in a "big jim" tub, what I found quite useful was to put baby powder underneath as well as around the tub I keep them in, the powder kills ants, uzi thus they stay away and the beauty of it all, it isn't poisonous to your other pets i.e. dogs/cats etc. it does look a bit weird with all the white powder, but it is worth it, I have not had ant problems in the last 2 years.
